Athletic Involvement
My whole life I have been involved in athletics. I am a four year member of the Juniata College field hockey team. By being involved in athletics all my life and being a part of a team it has allowed me to understand the roles of being a leader. Being on a team also allows for me to have a greater sense of responsibility and taking constructive criticism.

As a future teacher I aspire to be an avid role model in the lives of my students. Teaching is not only providing an education for students to succeed in their future, but to me, it is also giving the child the necessary skills needed to be successful. As a teacher it is my role to not only teach my students concepts, but also within my lessons make sure that my students are learning necessary life lessons. Understanding each child and getting to know how each learns is also very important to me when ensuring that all student’s will gain the skills that I hope they gain from being in my classroom. I believe that the best way a student will be able to learn is through experiments that involve active participation and engagement. Testing the students’ knowledge of what they are learning or the experiments that they are doing through asking questions is the best way they are going to understand concepts. Students being actively involved in the experiments and hands on activities will be highly encouraged by me as a teacher. Students should never be afraid to ask the teacher questions and the teacher should be just as engaged in helping students.
